I’m Done Blogging!

Marriage and Family

Dewater 4

“But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he had denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.” 1 Timothy 5:8

I’m done blogging for the next two weeks. I am going on vacation with my family!

Although the verse above is written in the context of taking care of widows, I see a truth here that applies to any member in my family. I need to provide for the members of my household.

The minimum I need to provide are the 4 Basics for life:

  • Food
  • Water
  • Shelter
  • Relationship

Food, water, and shelter are almost a given in our country. I don’t say that out of not being thankful, but simply because of how privileged we are.

Relationship on the other hand is not a given. If a dad is going to provide the relationship that his family needs, unplugging from regular life occasionally is necessary to spend focused time with his family. Providing relationship doesn’t just stop at me and them, but helping my family build relationship with God.

If I don’t provide what my family needs, scripture says I am not a man of God. Therefore, since I am a man of God, I will strive to provide what they need. And, at this season in our life, we need a vacation!

What did I miss? Are there other areas that are necessary for providing for our family?

Ephesians 5:22-33

“So he was reasoning in the synagogue with the Jews and the God-fearing Gentiles, and in the market place every day with those who happened to be present.” Acts 17:17
