Dad, Can We Climb the Hill

“Get yourself up on a high mountain, O Zion, bearer of good news, lift up your voice mightily, O Jerusalem, bearer of good news; lift it up, do not fear. Say to the cities of Judah, “Here is your God!” Isaiah 40:9

Growing up I would visit my dad in Roseburg every other week. He would come get me and my three siblings and we would spend the weekend with him. Near his house was a big hill with a radio tower on it. I don’t remember who initiated the first climb up that hill. I have a hunch that it was my dad.

After that, I would ask my dad if we could climb the hill. I have fond memories of climbing that hill with my dad when I was younger. One thing that makes hills cool is that they are higher than other ground and you see farther. Another thing that made that hill cool was being able to climb it with my dad. Once we were up on that hill, we could see most of Roseburg.

The prophet Isaiah in the passage above was telling Jerusalem to get themselves up on a mountain because they possessed a message that the whole world needed to hear. They possessed a message that was Good News! If they were to get themselves higher, they could proclaim it farther.

God wants us to climb a hill with Him! This hill is the one where we can tell others about His Son, Jesus Christ.

Those of us who have the good news of Jesus Christ need to get up on a mountain to proclaim it far and wide.

Do you possess the good news about Jesus?

Get to a place where you can tell others about the Savior!
