Marriage and Family
“Let each individual among you also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see to it that she respect her husband.” Ephesians 5:33
Is Your House Done Yet…?
I’m not sure how many times this question has been asked of my wife and I in the last month, but it is a lot!
So, when I get asked the question, “is your house done yet?”, inside I’m thinking, “I’m not sure when my house will ever be done”. Although, we are living in the house and we LOVE IT! I guess it depends on your perspective. On the one hand, there are so many things we need to do. On the other hand, we are living life while intentionally addressing the things that need work.
Even in the midst of working on things, we need to find contentment in the here and now. This doesn’t mean everything is perfect. Life isn’t perfect. Relationships are not perfect. But keeping the right perspective during challenge and growth will give you success in your marriage. The right perspective is to be content with the here and now while growing for the future.
When I ask people about their relationship with God, a common response is, “It could always be better.” Even though it’s true that our relationship with God and our spouse could always be better. We can come to a place of, “It’s really good and I am continuing to work on it.”
I look forward to being able to say, “The House is Done!”, but that simply means, the main functions of the house are operated as they should and we can have company over regularly. We are getting close!
Good Marriage is a result of continual work while being content in the here and now!
Have a Great Week!
